THE GIRL THROUGH THE PEEPHOLE. Born to an entity known only as Mother,
Winifred is not quite a girl and not quite human, either.
THERE'S A HOUSE DOWN AT THE END OF THE LANE, with no address and no apparent owner, either. (Families have lived there before, but each time, things ended so very terribly.) The siblings (for lack of a better word) call the house "Mother." They are born in the house, apparently made out of nothing, and remain there until they have grown to the age that Mother deems fit. Then, they leave, left to make their way in the world as best they can. The house teaches them everything they need to know in order to survive. Paramount among those things are their respective powers. Each girl or boy is given one gift. The years they spend in the house are used to learn to control and hone those powers. WINIFRED presents herself as a normal girl of an age anywhere between 17 and 24. She's tall, slender, and blonde. She likes bright colors and dresses in clothes that mimic the trends of the age-group she's settling into, but favors feminine-coded clothing, such as dresses and mini-skirts. Being of the peephole, Winnie knows how to do things, like charm through eye contact, or magically 'lock' a room if she is the last to enter it. Like most of Mother's children, she is obsessive about finding people to act as caretakers in her life, and is not above using her abilities to do so. She has a habit of finding families and charming herself into them, going to school while the families are trapped in their mansions, never able to leave. When she gets bored, she leaves them, even though the after-effects of being charmed can be horrific and nauseating. |
